Women's soccer suffers 1-0 home loss to Liberty League foe Union

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (6-5-1, 2-2-0 Liberty League) women's soccer team was defeated by Union College (6-3-2, 2-0-1), 1-0 in Liberty League action from Tiger Stadium Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped RIT in a tie for fourth in the league standings. Union's Katie Monahan scored the lone goal in the 60th minute.

Shots were even at 12-12. The Tigers took five corner kicks to two for the Dutchwomen. Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) took the loss in net for RIT, making six saves. Kelsey Hartsoe got the win for Union, making two saves.

RIT generated a couple good chances in the first half. Abbey Saia (Monroe, CT/Masuk) sent a ball out to Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) out on the flank. She sent a service into the Union penalty area towards Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna). Parzych got a foot to the ball, but a Union defender was right there to block the ball away and keep the game scoreless.

Rogers made a nice diving stop in the 30th minute on a shot from Union's Allie Supranowicz. Rogers saw the ball and made the dving stop to keep the game scorelss. The Tigers had a chance late in the first half when Lauren Chester (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) fired a shot form the top of the box that went just wide.

Monahan had a chance early in the second half when her shot from 15 yards out rang off the cross-bar and away. In the 53rd minute, RIT jad a chance when Mia White (Littleton, CO/Rocky Mountain Deaf School) had a header off a free kick that a Union defender blocked away again.

Monahan scored in the 60th minute on a good low shot from 15 yards that beat a sprawling Rogers.

The Tigers had a chance in the 86th minute when Saia made a run down the flank. She got a shoulder around her defender and send a service into the box. Parzych was there, but her shot falling away was saved.

RIT retunts to action on Friday, October 14 when they host Vassar College at 4 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
