POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team hit the road on Friday for a critical Liberty League matchup at Vassar College. The Tigers (4-6-3, 1-3-1 Liberty League) fell to the Brewers (9-2-2, 3-1-1 Liberty League) 1-0 at Gordon Field to fall into a tie for seventh place in the Liberty League standings. Vassar moves into a tie for first with the win.

Shots were 15-10 on favor of Vassar, while each team took five corner kicks. RIT fired four shots on net. Matt Marcelino got the win in net for the Brewers, making four saves. Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) took the loss for RIT, making five saves.

Alex Gonzales gave the Brewers the lead in the eighth minute, scoring off an assist from Mattie Mrlik. Mrlik made a nice pass to Gonzalez, who shook past his defender and ripped a shot home for his fourth goal of the season.

From there, Marcelino and the Brewers defense held firm. Simon Garno (Hilton, NY/Hilton) led the Tigers with a pair of shots, while Mike Reverdatto (Bethlehem, NY/Bethlehem), Dean Kouroupas (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield), Will Schiesswohl (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Township), and Nate Verso (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area) fired shots on goal.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they face Bard College at 2 p.m. in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
