WILKES BARRE, PA - The RIT wrestling team (4-13) went 1-2 at the Wilkes Quad Meet hosted by Wilkes University on Sunday afternoon. RIT dropped its first two matches to Scranton, 24-18, and host Wilkes, 35-15. RIT would rebound to defeat West Virginia University of Technology, 29-15.

Dempsey King (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) and Joe Cutugno (Ventnor, NJ/Atlantic City) each won three matches to lead the Tigers on Sunday. King won all three of his matches by pinfall at 149 lbs., while Cutugno tallied three close wins by decision. At 125 lbs., Andrew Flanagan (Holley, NY/Holley) finished 2-1 on the day, while Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion) also recorded a 2-1 mark at 141 lbs. and John Donohue (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) equalled that mark at 174 lbs. Kelsey Patten (Alexander, NY/Alexander) also picked up a victory at 285 lbs.

In the opener, RIT led 18-9, before Scranton scored the final 15 points to win the match. Wilkes scored the first 13 points against RIT before the Tigers rallied to make it 17-15. Wilkes would get the final 18 points to pull away. RIT led the entire way in the win over WVU Tech.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 6, as they head to Baldwin Wallace College for the John Summa Invitational.
