ROCHESTER, NY - Former RIT women's hockey standout Lindsay Grigg (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Hornets), a 2015 graduate and two-year captain, became the third Tiger to sign a professional contract with the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), inking a deal with the Buffalo Beauts on Monday, July 13.

Grigg enjoyed an excellent four-year career with the Tigers, recording 75 points on 20 goals and 55 assists in 143 contests. She is RIT's all-time leader in games played. As a freshman in 2011-12, Grigg scored a career-high eight goals and 22 points, recording a plus-28 rating, helping lead the Tigers to the NCAA Division III Championship. She scored the game-winning goal in overtime, lifting RIT past SUNY Plattsburgh in the 2012 NCAA National Semifinal. The next season, Grigg was a key member of the squad that helped RIT make a seamless transition to Division I in 2012-13, recording 14 points on two goals and 12 assists.

In 2013-14, Grigg enjoyed a tremendous season on defense, tallying 21 points on three goals and 18 assists. She scored the game-winning goal with 6:17 left in double overtime to lift RIT to the College Hockey America Championship, 2-1 over Frozen Four participant Mercyhurst. Grigg earned All-College Hockey America second team honors, was named to the CHA Championship All-Tournament Team and blocked a school record and nation-best 127 shots. This past season, Grigg was named the CHA's Best Defensive Forward and earned CHA All-Tournament Team honors for the second straight season, lifting RIT to its second straight league title and first appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Grigg was part of a senior class that went 15-2 all-time in the postseason, winning three league titles in four years.

On June 26, Grigg's former teammate and fellow two-year captain Celeste Brown (Great Falls, MT/National Sports Academy) signed with the New York Riveters. Last week, 2014 graduate Erin Zach signed with the Buffalo Beauts.

I am so excited for Lindsay Grigg (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Hornets)," said Scott McDonald, Bruce B. Bates Women's Hockey Coach at RIT. "Lindsay is a part of an elite group of female hockey players out there that are making their dreams of becoming a professional hockey play come true. Buffalo has signed an extremely talented hockey player. Lindsay is a skilled and intelligent player on the ice that has the ability to play any position or role on the team.  But it's the intangibles that will set her apart from the rest. Her passion and dedication to the her team's success is truly special.  She will be an asset to the Buffalo Beauts organization on and off the ice."

The NWHL launched in April 2015, with its inaugural season to debut on October 17. It is the first paid professional women's hockey league in North America. The NWHL will start with four teams and plans to expand the league with additional teams and locations across North America. The founding four teams are the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters.
