ROCHESTER, NY - It was a bittersweet afternoon as the RIT women's tennis team hosted SUNY Oneonta at their last home match of the season on Sunday, and recognized the achievements of seniors on the team,
Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) and
Diane Wang (Ames, IA/Ames). The Tigers came away with the 5-4 win over the Red Dragons in front of a sizable audience due to the Tiger Den event. The team has found its groove, as this is the third consecutive win for RIT.

The doubles lineup was
Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) and
Paige Baker (Fairport, NY/Our Lady of Mercy),
Marie Jubert (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Kelsie Redburn (Byram, NJ/Pope John XXIII) at second doubles and
Riane Reithel (Rochester, NY/Webster Schroeder) and
Diane Wang (Ames, IA/Ames) represented the team at third doubles. Reithel and Wang quickly put RIT on the board with an 8-2 victory, and are proving to be a cohesive doubles unit. Jubert and Redburn battled it out against their opponents, and were able to adjust their strategy accordingly in an 8-6 win.

The singles lineup was Bjork, Heaviland, Wang, Baker, Reithel and Jubert. Wang played a thrilling match and was able to walk away with a 6-0, 7-6 (6) win for the Tigers. Wang was able to keep up her energy despite having to endure some long rallies, and her remarkable composure and consistency made all of the difference in her ability to succeed. Her effort and perseverance were most definitely commendable. Baker also won her match with an admirable score of 6-2, 6-2. At the end of the contest, the score was split 4-4 and Jubert was able to notch the final win for the Tigers with a score of 6-2, 6-0.

The Tigers travel to Geneva, NY to compete against Williams Smith College at 4 p.m. in the final stretch of their season. RIT is fighting for a potential berth in the Liberty League Tournament.
