CANTON, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (0-4, 0-1 Liberty League) fell to St. Lawrence University (6-1, 3-0 Liberty League) 9-0 on Sunday. Although there were some encouraging moments throughout the morning, the Tigers struggled to find their rhythm against the Saints.

Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) and Diane Wang (Ames, IA/Ames) competed in the first doubles slot, falling 8-2. Gianna Heaviland (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito) and Riane Reithel (Rochester, NY/Webster Schroeder) represented the team at second doubles, and Paige Baker (Fairport, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and Kelsie Redburn (Byram, NJ/Pope John XXIII) played at the third doubles position. Although none of the pairings came away with a win, each duo implemented strategy in their match. Optimistically, with continued practice and experience these doubles pairings will continue to improve their communication and overall doubles tactics.

The singles lineup was Bjork, Heaviland, Wang, Baker, Reithel, and Redburn. Bjork battled in her match against Elkie Vandeneemt in an intense matchup. The points were lengthy and consisted of powerful groundstrokes; it was evident that a lot of effort was put fourth by Bjork throughout the match. In respect to the other matches, many of the scores are not indicative of the rallies that occurred throughout the games. For example, Reithel's match consisted of several deuces as well as promising and competitive rallies.  

This weekend, the Tigers will travel to play Liberty League opponent, Rensselaer on Sunday, March 15 at 10 a.m.
