No. 2 RIT men's lacrosse remains unbeaten with convincing home win over St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY -- The No. 2 RIT men's lacrosse team improved to 6-0 on the season with an 18-4 win over St. John Fisher College (3-2) in non-conference action from RIT's Turf Field Wednesday afternoon. With the win, RIT is now 14-3 all time versus the Cardinals, and have won five straight. The Tigers run their regular-season winning streak to 30 games.

Shots were 50-27 in favor of the Tigers, who went 0-for-2 on their man-up chances. The Tigers held a 43-23 ground ball edge, and cleared the ball 18-of-20 times. Eddie Kiesa (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) led the Tigers with a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists. Kyle Sterzin (Fairport, NY/Fairport) tallied five points on four goals and an assist, while Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute) finished with three goals and an assist. Dave Shuster (Columbus, OH/St. Charles Prep) scored a pair of goals, while Ryan Lee (Sharon, Ontario/The Hill Academy), Brad Gillies (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas), Zack Thompson (Orangeville, Ontario/Culver Academy), Mikey Gulasey (Medina, OH/Western Reserve Academy) and Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) each tallied a goal and an assist.

Steven Ricci (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) went 7-of-13 from the face-off "X", while Gillies grabbed a team-high nine ground balls. Matt Hossack (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry) caused three turnovers, while Patrick Hannigan (Hanover, MA/Hanover) and Cory Ashmore (Sutton, Ontario/Sutton District) each caused two turnovers. Pat Johnston (Norwell, MA/Norwell) got the win in net, making 16 saves, while Jarryd Lee (Melbourne, Australia/St. Leonards) played the final 7:19, making two saves.

Gary Bova led Fisher with two goals, while Matt Colicchia and Matthew Condon each scored a goal. Tanner Swan took the loss in net, making 16 saves.

RIT led 5-1 after the first quarter, 9-2 at halftime and never looked back. The Tigers also outscored Fisher 9-2 in the second half. RIT opened by tallying the first three goals of the game, taking a 3-0 lead on Gulasey's third goal of the season. Gillies, Kiesa, Sterzin and Warren each scored for RIT in the opening quarter. Colicchia tallied the lone Cardinals goal.

After a Condon goal to open the second quarter cut the RIT lead to 5-2, the Tigers ran off four straight goals to close out the half to lead 9-2. Shuster and Kiesa each scored two goals in the second quarter, while Aquin added a goal.

Kiesa opened the third quarter scoring with his 11th goal of the season off a nice feed from Warren. Warren tallied his tenth of the season later in the quarter, while Lee scored off a feed from Kiesa, extending the RIT lead to 12-4. Warren scored his second goal of the third quarter with 3:20 to play, making it 13-4 RIT.

Sterzin scored three times in the fourth quarter for the Tigers, while Thompson and Alex Bodin (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Dr. Charles Best) added insurance goals. RIT's defense held the Cardinals scoreless in the fourth quarter, and to just two goals in the second half.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, March 21, beginning play in the Liberty League facing Clarkson University at 1 p.m. in Potsdam, N.Y.
