MOON TOWNSHIP, PA –
Marissa Maugeri (Ajax, Ontario/Durham West Lightning) and
Mackenzie Stone (Kars, Ontario/South Carleton) each netted a goal as the RIT (10-17-4, 4-11-2 CHA) women's hockey team played Robert Morris (9-17-4, 6-8-3 CHA) to a 2-2 tie on Friday night from the Lumber 84 stadium.
RIT came out and scored on a power-play 7:31 into the game. Stone put away the first goal off of passes from
Morgan Scoyne (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres) and Maugeri.
Both teams scored with one minute to go in the second period. At the 19 minute mark, Rebecca Vint netted a goal for the Colonials from Rikki Meilleur and Megan Eady. Just 42 seconds later, Maugeri put away the Tigers second goal to take a 2-1 lead into the second period.
Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) and Emilee Bullied added the helpers on the score.
The Colonials scored with 9:39 left in the third period to tie the game. Katie Fergus tied the game with an assist from Mackenzie Johnston.
Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) made 27 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Jessica Dodds made 23 saves for Robert Morris.
Robert Morris held an 29-25 advantage in shots, while the Tigers were 1-of-2 on the man-advantage and the Colonials were 0-for-2.
"I thought we played very well tonight," said RIT head coach
Scott McDonald. "We generated a lot of good scoring opportunities. Tomorrow we need to tighten it up in our defensive zone and be more intense in front of our net."
RIT is 7-6-2 all-time against the Colonials. The season series is tied 1-1-1 in 2014-15. The two teams met earlier in the season on Jan. 9-10. Robert Morris won 2-0 on Jan. 9 and RIT came back to win 3-2 the following day. Maugeri,

Carly Payerl (Kitchener, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) each netted a goal in the second game to lift the Tigers.
The Tigers face-off against the Colonials Saturday at 3:05 p.m. in the fourth and final regular season matchup of the season from 84 Lumber Arena. The two teams may meet in the first round of the CHA Tournament.
