ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (12-2-2) women's soccer team wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 when the Tigers host No. 5 William Smith College at Tiger Stadium. The winner will claim the Liberty League regular season title and will host the upcoming conference tournament. RIT will honor its seven seniors prior to the game.
RIT comes into Saturday second in the Liberty League standings with 19 points and a 6-0-1 conference record. The Tigers enter Saturday 4-1-0 in their last five games, including a 3-2 win at Union College last Saturday. Freshman
Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun), the reiging Liberty League Rookie of the Week, tallied the game winner in the 80th minute. It was her first collegiate goal.
Caitlyn Daly (Glendora, CA/St. Lucy's Priory) and
Monique Polanco (Merrick, NY/John F. Kennedy) also scored for RIT, while
Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) got the win in net, making two saves.
The Tigers come into Saturday third in the Liberty League in scoring, averaging 2.25 goals per game, out scoring their opponents 36-9 on the season. Defensively, RIT is second in the conference, allowing 0.56 goals per game, posting fnine shut outs.
Elizabeth May (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) leads the Tigers in scoring with 14 points on six goals and two assists. She is tied for seventh in the league with six goals, and is tied for second with three game winning goals.
Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and
Quincey Ornellas (Moorpark, CA/Moorpark) are tied for second on the team in scoring with 13 points apiece. Parzych is tied with May with six goals, including three game winning goals, which is tied for second in the Liberty League. Thirteen different Tigers have scored goals this season.
Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) is second in the conference with a 0.77 goals against average, and is tied for fourth in the conference with an .833 save percentage.
Sienna Fisher (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area) is second in the league with a .913 save percentage.
William Smith enters Saturday the top scoring team in the Liberty League, averaging 3.13 goals per game. The Herons have out scored their opponents, 47-3 this season. Defensively, William Smith allows a mere 0.20 goals per game. The Herons have not allowed a goal since Sept. 12 in a 1-1 draw versus No. 3 Messiah College.
Brie Ruane leads the team and is third in the Liberty League with 21 points on nine goals and three assists. She is second in the league averaging 1.50 points per game. Her nine goals are second in the conference while she is second averaging .643 goals per game. Kara Shue is third in the league with six assists. Kallen Murray is tops in the league with a .078 goals against average, allowing just one goal this season.
In 2013, RIT and the Herons played to a 1-1 draw in the conference semifinals, but William Smith advanced on penalty kicks. Last season, William Smith defeated the Tigers 3-1 in the regular season finale, and defeated the Tigers 3-0 in the Liberty League semifinals.
