Men's soccer has three-game winning streak snapped with loss to Union on Senior Day

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (7-8-0, 4-3-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Union College (9-2-4, 2-1-3 Liberty League) at Tiger Stadium. RIT honored its senior class of, Rueben Marquez (Williamson, NY/Williamson), Geno Rocco (Apalachin, NY/Vestal), Luke Dorsey (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia), Matt Miles (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), Mark Reeves (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon), and Jonny Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) before today's game.

Shots were 9-6 in favor of the Tigers, who took eight corner kicks to three for the Dutchmen. Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) took the loss in net for the Tigers, making three saves. John Weitzman got the win for Union, making three saves.

RIT had a chance early in the game when Mike Reverdatto (Bethlehem, NY/Bethlehem) played a ball to Tristan Scott (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) inside the Union penalty box. Scott's header was just wide of the Union post.

Andrew Fontaine blasted a shot from about 30 yards out in the first half that was tracking towards the RIT net. But, Cinibulk read the flight all the way and was able to tip the ball over the cross bar for a corner.

The Dutchmen broke through on a goal in the 23rd minute. Trevor Pauldine got the ball inside the RIT penalty area after a misplayed clearance by the Tigers defense. He fired into the lower right corner to give Union a 1-0 lead.

Late in the half, RIT had a chance off a corner kick. Raul Silva (San Diego, CA/Madison) sent in a service into the Union box. Scott was able to get a toe on the ball and get a shot off. However, Weitzman was able to tip the shot wide before it went in.

The Tigers best chance in the second half came when Tyler Hatch (Concord, NH/Tilton School) fired a bullet of a shot from about 15 yards out that Weitzman tipped away at the last moment.

With the win, Union stays alive for a Liberty League Tournament berth. With the loss, the Tigers are currently locked in a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings tied with Skidmore and St. Lawrence with 12 points. Just one point separates the top five teams and three points separate the top seven

RIT returns to action on Wednesday, October 28 when the Tigers host Ithaca College at 3 p.m. on the grass at Tiger Stadium.
