ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (0-1) opened up the dual match portion of the season, falling to Brockport (7-3, 3-3 SUNYAC) 9-0 at the Gordon Field House Friday night.
In singles competition, the Golden Eagles and Tigers battled to some close matches. In second singles, Brockport's Dilara Kumbul outlasted
Taylor Thormahlen () by a close 6-4, 7-5 score.
Marie Jubert (Fairport, NY/Fairport) also played it close, falling to Brockport's Elizabeth O'Rouke, 7-5, 6-4. The match of the night was in fifth singles, where
Riane Reithel (Rochester, NY/Webster Schroeder) took the first set, before falling in three sets, 4-6, 6-0, 10-5.
In doubles, the team of Jubert and
Kelsie Redburn (Byram, NJ/Pope John XXIII) were defeated by Brockport's team of Sinclair and O'Rourke, in a close 8-5 match.
The Tigers will continue with their second dual match of the fall on the road, opening up Liberty League play as they take on Skidmore (2-0, 2-0 Liberty League) at 2 p.m. Sunday.
