WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The RIT wrestling team (2-6) dropped all three of its matches on day one of the prestigious Budd Whitehill National Duals held at Lamade Gym on the campus of Lycoming College on Friday. RIT lost to York College (Pa.) and Ohio Northern by identical 27-12 scores and fell to Williams College to conclude the day, 31-15.
Brad Mayville (Marion, NY/Wayne) was RIT's lone wrestler to finish 3-0 on the day. He opened with a 3-0 win at 149 lbs. over Drew Spector of York, and defeated Evan Morgan of Ohio Northern, 4-3, before winning his final match via forfeit.
Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion),
Nicholas Greenquist (Spring Lake, NJ/St. Rose), and
Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne) all finished 2-1 on Friday. Sepor won two close decisions at 141 lbs., while Greenquist took a win by injury and one in overtime at 165 lbs. Cain lost his first match of the day at 174 lbs., then rebounded to win his final two matches.
Jake Swearingen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and
Sam Weinger (Blooming Grovve, NY/Washingtonville) picked up a win apiece at 197 lbs. and 285 lbs., respectively.
RIT will face Alfred State College in one consolation match on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. and also wrestle at 12 p.m.
