OSWEGO, NY - The RIT wrestling team improved to 6-9 in dual meets this season after a convincing 37-9 win over SUNY Oswego (2-9) at the Max Ziel Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
After spotting Oswego a 6-0 lead after a forfeit at 125 lbs., the Tigers rattled off 37 of the next 40 points for the win.
Kevin Palmieri (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) got things started for the Tigers at 133 lbs., defeating Simon Greebel, 5-1.
Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion) tied the match at 6-6 after a 8-3 win over Quamaine Thomas at 141 lbs.
Brad Mayville (Marion, NY/Wayne) picked up his 20th victory of the season at 149 lbs., shutting out Mark Milisci, 6-0. At 174 lbs.,
Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne) also recorded his 20th win of the year, defeating Sean Maloney 21-7 before the Oswego wrestler bowed out due to injury.
Sam Weinger (Blooming Grovve, NY/Washingtonville) pinned Dillion Hudson of Oswego in just 53 seconds to close out the meet at 285 lbs.
Nicholas Greenquist (Spring Lake, NJ/St. Rose) (165 lbs.),
Nick Fisk (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield) (184 lbs.), and
Jake Swearingen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) (197 lbs.) all garnered wins via forfeit.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the John Summa Tournament, hosted by Baldwin Wallace College. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m.
