GENESEO, NY – The RIT (4-3) men's swimming and diving team suffered a 169-130 loss to SUNY Geneseo at Alumni Pool on Saturday afternoon in its first meet of the 2015 calendar year.
Senior
John Tellgren (Anoka, MN/Anoka) placed first in the 3-meter diving event scoring 308.35. He scored 302.25 in the 1-meter to finish just behind Samuel Randal of Geneseo.
Matt Butler finished in the top spot in both the 100 and 200-meter breast stroke with times of 1:01.70 and 2:20.49. Steve Paine and
John O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) took first and second in the 200 back stroke with times of 2:21.34 and 2:04.43 respectively.
Matt Berus (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) set the pace in the 200-meter freestyle finishing in 1:51.19.
Derek Brown (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) and
Ryan Facchine (Fairview, PA/Fairview) placed second and third in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Austin Hayes (Aurora, OH/Aurora) finished the 500-meter freestyle in 5:05.30 to claim second place just after John Nasky of SUNY Geneseo. The relay team of Same Shpuntoff, Paine, Brown, and Facchine took first place with a time of 3:18.53.
The Tigers will be back in action from Judson pool against Hamilton on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
