No. 16 RIT women's soccer plays to a scoreless draw versus Otterbein



PITTSBURGH, PA -- The No. 16 RIT (2-0-1) women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw versus Otterbein University on day one of the Doubletree Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday afternoon.

Shots were 7-6 in favor of the Tigers, while each team took five corner kicks. Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) made five saves for RIT, picking up her third straight shutout to start the season and 19th of her collegiate career. Dana Strimbu made two saves for Otterbein.

RIT's first good scoring chance came in the 27th minute when Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) made a run down the right side. She got by her defender and fired a shot that went just wide of the Otterbein net. Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) redirected a service by Liz May in the 35th minute that went just wide of the post.

Jillian Strimbu had a long shot in the 37th minute for Otterbein that Murray was able to save to keep the game scoreless at the break.

RIT's best chance in the second half came in the 78th minute off a nice build-up by the Tigers from the back. Alyssa Tatti (Lake Grove, NY/Centereach) made a nice run down the right side, but her shot inside the Cardinals penalty area went just wide of the post.

RIT had a good chance in the 103rd minute when Parzych gathered a loose ball inside the box off a corner kick and fired a shot that went just wide.

The Tigers have not allowed a goal in 290 minutes of play this season.

The Tigers are right back in action on Sunday morning, when RIT faces No. 9 Carnegie Mellon at 11 a.m. to wrap up play at the Doubletree Invitational.
