ROCHESTER, NY -- Freshman forward Dean Kouroupas (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield), of the RIT men's soccer team was named the Liberty League and Corvias ECAC Division III Upstate Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 28, 2014. It is Kouroupas' first weekly honors of the season.

Kouroupas helped RIT to a 2-0-0 record last week, tallying two goals and two assists. Tuesday, Kouroupus tallied two goals and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Nazareth. He scored the eventual game winner in the 28th minute, splitting two defenders and firing a shot into the top of the net. He gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in his second goal in the 49th minute. Saturday, he had the assist on Geno Rocco (Apalachin, NY/Vestal)'s game-winning goal as RIT came back to beat Clarkson, 2-1. Kouroupas leads the team in scoring with seven points on two goals and three assists, including a game winning tally.

RIT (3-5-1, 1-0-0 Liberty League) travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on Vassar College on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. The Tigers will face Bard College on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
