GENESEO, NY – The RIT women's soccer team (3-1-2) played to a 2-2 draw at No. 17 SUNY Geneseo (6-0-1) Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers led twice in the game, but could not hold on for the win. Sarah Szczepanski (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) had a goal and an assist for the Tigers, tallying her first career goal. RIT snapped Geneseo's six-game winning streak to start the season.

Shots were 18-10 in favor of the Knights, while the Tigers held a 7-6 edge on corner kicks. Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) picked up the tie in net for RIT, making 10 saves. Allison Stamp took the tie for SUNY Geneseo making six saves.

The first half saw three goals scored in the first 21 minutes. Szczepanski gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute on her first collegiate goal off a corner kick.

Geneseo equalized in the tenth minute when Kelsey Raschke took a pass from Jori Semrau and flicked a shot over Murray's head, tying the score at 1-1. The Tigers took the lead back in the 21st minute when Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) took a feed from Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and scored into the far left giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead. The goal was KIss' 19th of her collegiate career.

Parzych had a nice chance in the 42nd minute, but Stamp came up with the save keeping it a 2-1 RIT advantage at halftime. Geneseo held a 9-6 shot advantage in the first half, firing six on net. Murray came up big for RIT, making five first-half saves.

Kiss had a nice chance early in the second half, but Stamp was able to make the save keeping it a one-goal game.

Raschke had a couple good scoring chances in the 55th and 66th minutes respectively, but Murray was able to make the saves to maintain the slim lead for the Tigers. The Knights kept the pressure on the RIT defense, and finally equalized in the 74th minute when Leah Greene scored off an assist from Stephanie Clookey, tying the score at 2-2. She scored into the top right corner off a shot from the right side.

Erin Froehlich had a great chance for the Knights off a corner kick in the 80th minute, but Murray was able to make the save and keep the game tied.

In the first overtime period, Maxine Culhane (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) had a chance in the 98th minute to give the Tigers the win, but Stamp was there for Geneseo and made the save. Kiss had a chance with 13 seconds to play in the first overtime, but again, Stamp was there to make the save.

Neither team had a solid scoring chance in the second overtime. RIT returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 when the Tigers face University of Rochester at the second annual Hillside Community Shield. That game gets underway at 4:30 p.m. at Sahlen's Stadium in downtown Rochester.
