PITTSFORD, NY -- The No. 1 RIT men's lacrosse team improved to 12-0 on the season with a 14-11 win over crosstown rival Nazareth College (6-6) in non-conference action from Nazareth's Turf Field on Wednesday afternoon. Tied 8-8 early in the fourth quarter, the Tigers rattled off four straight goals to pull ahead and hold on for the win. The Tigers have now won seven straight over the Golden Flyers.

Junior Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) led RIT with five points on four goals and an assist. Casey Jackson (Victoria, BC/Claremont), Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin), Ryan Lee (Sharon, Ontario/The Hill Academy) and Taylor Wisman (Seattle, WA/Inglemoor) each scored two goals, while Wisman added three assists.

Nazareth held a 45-39 shot advantage and won the ground ball battle 41-30. The Tigers won just 8-of-27 face-offs and were 18-of-21 on clearing attempts. RIT went 0-for-2 on man-up chances and committed 11 turnovers.

Pat Johnston (Norwell, MA/Norwell) improved to 9-0 on the season, making 13 saves in net for RIT. Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) won seven face-offs, including four straight in the fourth quarter to spur the Tigers run, while scoring a goal and grabbing five ground balls. Freshman JD Hall (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) grabbed two ground balls, while Matt Hossack (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry) scored a goal, caused a turnover and grabbed two ground balls.

Both teams scored twice in the first quarter. Brian Wright gave the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead at 12:39 on his 14th goal of the season. Jackson and Aquin answered with two straight for RIT, while Troy Haefele tied the score at 2-2 with 11 seconds to play in the quarter.

Collin Clark gave Nazareth a 3-2 lead early in the second qaurter on his man-up goal at 14:39 of the quarter.

RIT went on one of its pantented runs, tallying five straight goals to close out the first half leading 7-3. Aquin scored two of RIT's five goals in the run, while Wisman, Lee and Jackson also scored for the Tigers.

Aquin opened the scoring in the second half, giving RIT an 8-3 lead at 5:34 of the third quarter off a feed from Wisman.

The Golden Flyers went on a run of its own, tallying four straight to finish the third quarter, pulling to within 8-7 on a goal by Haefele off a feed from Luke Longo with two seconds to play quarter.

Chris Aycock tied the score at 8-8 early in the fourth quarter on his 14th goal of the season.

RIT would score four straight goals in a span of 2:14 to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Lee answered right back for RIT, giving the Tigers a 9-8 with 12:51 to play, tallying his 27th goal of the season off another assist from Wisman. Krzyston made it 10-8 RIT, tallying his ninth goal on a flip-in in front of the Nazareth net off a feed from Hall. Brooks-Lambert won the ensuing face-off, scooped up the ground ball and drove in tallying his third goal of the season with 11:30 to play, giving the Tigers an 11-8 lead.

Wisman made it 12-8 RIT with 10:37 to play off a feed from Aquin. Aycock broke the Tigers run, tallying his 15th of the season with 8:14 to play, cutting the RIT to 12-9. Krzyston made it 13-9 RIT with 4:51 to play off a feed from Eddie Kiesa (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt).

Brian Wright made it 13-10 with 4:29 to play, but Hossack put it out of reach for RIT, tallying his seventh goal of the season off a feed from Mac Keehfus (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) with 1:55 to play giving RIT a 14-10 score. Wright added a final goal with 1:11 to play, making it a 14-11 final.

Wright led Nazareth with three goals. Aycock tallied two goals, while Haefele tallied three points on a goal and two assists. Drew Simoneau won 19-of-27 face-offs and had 15 ground balls. Scott Brown took the loss in net, making 10 saves.

The Tigers are now 15-18 all-time against the Golden Flyers. The Golden Flyers last defeated the Tigers in 2009. RIT is 7-0 all-time against the Golden Flyers under head coach Jake Coon, who was an All-American goalkeeper for Nazareth in the late 1990's.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, April 12 at Vassar College. Face-off in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. is 12 p.m.
