Women's tennis goes down on the road at Union

SCHENECTADY, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (1-5, 0-4 Liberty League) dropped a Liberty League road match at Union College (6-3, 1-0 Liberty League) by a score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Union Tennis Courts.

Union opened the match by winning all three doubles matches. At first singles, RIT's Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) would record RIT's lone point of day, recording a 7-6, 6-4 win over Natalia Pronchick. At fourth singles, Gianna Heaviland (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito) sould put up a valiant effort against Kathryn Collins. Heaviland would win the first set 6-4 before Collins won the second set by the same score. In the tiebreaker, the two battled back and forth before Collins won by a 12-10 score.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday with a road contest at University of Rochester that gets underway at 4 p.m.
