ROCHESTER, NY - Junior wrestler
Brad Mayville (Marion, NY/Wayne) finished his tremendous 2013-14 season by going 2-2 at 149 lbs. at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mayville won his first two matches of the weekend before falling in the quarterfinal round on Friday and consolation round on Saturday. Mayville finishes the season with a 33-12 record.
Mayville competed in an opening round match against Eric Hamrick of Springfield, earning a 7-5 win. He then defeated No. 8 seed Luke Lohr of Waynesburg, 8-5 to advance to the quarterfinals against top-seeded Robert Diema of SUNY Cortland. In that match, Mayville fell to Diema by technical fall, 23-7. Mayville was eliminated in the consolations against Nick Drendel of Dubuque by a score of 11-5.
It was Mayville's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament and RIT's first since Mike McInally earned runner-up honors in 2011.

This season, Mayville, a criminal justice major, finished 33-12 while wrestling at 149 lbs. He advanced to the NCAA Tournament after placing third in his weight class at the NCAA Mideast Regional on Sunday, March 2 at York College. Mayville enjoyed an excellent season for the Tigers, beginning with a second place finish at the Monarch Invitational hosted by King's College. The following weekend, Mayville was the champion at the Ursinus Fall Brawl and on Dec. 7 was named the Tony Wallace Award winner, given to the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet, while winning his weight class at the RIT Invitational.

This season, Mayville recorded 12 wins by pin and four more by major decision. He was 10-3 in dual meets, earned Empire College Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week honors on Nov. 5 and RIT Male Athlete of the Week accolades on Nov. 11 and Dec. 9. Mayville was also honored by the ECWC for his hard work in the classroom, earning All-Academic honors.

Last season, Mayville finished 33-10, narrowly missing a berth in the NCAA Championships. Mayville, who transferred in last year after spending the 2011-12 season at SUNY Oswego, is 66-22 as a Tiger, with 24 pins and eight victories by major decision. He is 25-5 in dual meets and a four-time RIT Male Athlete of the Week.
