Men's basketball cruises to 98-73 win over Bard



ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (13-7, 7-4 Liberty League) men's basketball team cruised to a 98-73 win over Bard College (5-14, 0-10 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon on the floor of Clark Gym.

RIT trailed by six points early in the first half when Bard's Lamar Powell drained a jumper, giving the Raptors a 10-4 lead. The TIgers outscored Bard 42-10 over the remaining 17:16 of the first half, to take a 46-20lead  at the break.

RIT shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the opening half, on 16-of-30 shooting. The Tigers were 5-of-10 from behind the arc and made 9-of-9 from the foul line. JP Reagan (Cortland, NY/Cortland) led RIT with 17 first-half points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Tigers extended the lead to as many as 33 points in the second half, cruising home for the 25-point win.

RIT shot 53.1 percent from the floor for the game, on 34-of-64 shooting. The Tigers were 6-of-18 from beyond the arc and went 24-of-29 from the foul line. RIT scored 44 of their 98 points in the paint, and scored 19 points off of 11 Bard turnovers.

Reagan was one of five Tigers to score in double-figures with 19 points. Kamron Davis (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Gabe Nicasio (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) chipped in with 16 points. Miguel Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/St. Francis) scored 15 points and Sheldon Clay (Detroit, MI/University of Detroit Jesuit) tallied 10 points off the bench.

Lamar Powell led Bard with 23 points. Siondueh Burnette scored 19 points, while Alex Fabean-Scotch added 16 points for Bard who shot 42.9 percent from the floor on 25-of-56 shooting. The Raptors went 9-of-23 from behind the arc and went 16-of-24 from the foul line.

RIT, winners of two straight, return to action on Tuesday, February 11 at 8 p.m. at Union College.
