ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team looks to get back into the win column this weekend with a pair of non-conference contests at Rensselaer on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game from the Houston Field House starts at 7 p.m., while Saturday's gets underway at 4 p.m.

Last weekend, the Tigers (6-7-3, 1-4-1 CHA) dropped a pair of league contests to No. 8 Mercyhurst, both by identical 4-1 scores. On Friday, Celeste Brown (Great Falls, MT/National Sports Academy) scored RIT's lone goal, while Jetta Rackleff (Bend, OR/Summit) made 20 saves. On Saturday, Carly Payerl (Kitchener, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) scored for RIT, while Rackleff stopped 23 shots.

Defensively, RIT is ninth nationally, allowing just 1.75 goals per game. Senior goaltender Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) is second nationally in save percentage (.957) and fourth in goals against average (1.09). She needs one more shutout to tie RIT Hall of Famer Melissa Norris (now Wilkins) '01 for the all-time RIT mark of 18. Senior forward Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) is one goal shy of third place all-time at the university and four points shy of 100 for her career. McCrea has 65 goals and 31 assists for 96 career points.

Rensselaer (1-10-2, 0-4-0 ECAC) enters the weekend looking to snap a seven-game winless streak. Last time out, the Engineers fell to Princeton, 2-1 in overtime. Its opponents are out-scoring Rensselaer, 45-19 this season. Alexa Gruschow and Laura Horwood lead the team in scoring with six points apiece on three goals and three assists. Brianna Piper and Kelly O'Brien have split time in net. Piper is 0-5-2 with a 3.08 goals against average and .893 save percentage, while O'Brien is 1-5-0 with a 3.67 goals against average and .898 save percentage.

RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 11-5-4. Rensselaer has won the last four meetings, the last coming on March 5, 2005, a 5-2 win for the Engineers in the Division III ECAC East Playoffs. Rensselaer moved to Division I in 2005.

Live stats and video will be available for both contests.
