POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The RIT (3-6-1, 1-1-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team lost 2-0 to Vassar College (8-3-1, 2-0-0 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Gordon Field on Friday afternoon. The Brewers netted a pair of goals in the second half to notch the win.
Shots were 14-5 in favor of Vassar. The Brewers took five corner kicks to two for the Tigers.
Mark Reeves (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) took the loss in net for the Tigers making three saves. Adam Warner picked up the win for the Brewers making zero saves.
After a scoreless first half, the Brewers broke through in the 57th minute when junior Jordan Palmer scored on a back heel finish off a feed from Gavin Jennings from the right wing.
The Brewers continued to generate pressure throughout the half, tallying again in the 74th minute. Stephen Jennings played a long ball to a streaking Andre Cousineau down the middle of the field. After getting past a pair of Tiger defenders, Cousineau dribbled around Reeves and finished easily on the open goal to increase the Brewer lead to 2-0.
The Tigers pushed the pace down the stretch, desperately trying to find their first score. The Vassar defense did a solid job keeping the visitors away from the goal, as RIT generated only five shots with none on goal in the match.
RIT returns to action tomorrow afternoon when the Tigers face Bard College at 2 p.m. in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
