ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team opens College Hockey America play this weekend by hosting Lindenwood University at the Gene Polisseni Center on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest starts at 3 p.m.

On Friday, there will be special Halloween Festivities and costume contests. On Saturday, all fans will receive a free jersey shaped raffle towel giveaway. There will be $1 pizza slices until the opening faceoff on Saturday.

The Tigers enter the weekend riding a three-game winning streak. Last weekend, RIT swept a pair of road contests at Brown, winning on Friday by a score of 4-1, and on Saturday, 5-2. On Friday, Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas), Darcy Henderson (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas), Mackenzie Stone (Kars, Ontario/South Carleton), and Lindsay Grigg (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Hornets) scored, while Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) made 23 saves. On Saturday, McCrea scored twice, while freshmen Lauren Carroll (Carlisle, Ontario/Oakville Hornets) and Victoria Pitawanakwat (Manitowaning, Ontario/Sudbury Wolves) scored their first collegiate goals. Caitlin Wallace (Brantford, Ontario/Assumption Collegiate) also scored, while Brooke Stoddart (Elmvale, Ontario/Elmvale) stopped 13 shots to pick up the win in goal.

McCrea was named the CHA Player of the Week on Monday, while Binnington earned Goaltender of the Week honors.

Binnington is now second nationally with a 0.84 goals against average and .967 save percentage. She has an 11-2 mark and an incredible 0.78 goals against average and .972 save percentage, having allowed just 11 goals and stopping 379 shots over her last 13 starts dating back to last season. Binnington is 65 saves and 111 minutes played shy of setting the school records in both categories.

Defensively, RIT is tied for second nationally, allowing just 1.12 goals per game (nine goals allowed in eight games). RIT has an incredible run of allowing two or less goals in 17 straight games dating back to last February.

Lindenwood comes into the weekend with a 1-5-0 mark after dropping a pair of games at Minnesota Duluth last weekend by scores of 3-1 and 6-2. Shara Jasper leads the Lady Lions in scoring with five points on four goals and an assist. Katie Erickson and Alyssa West have three assists apiece to pace the squad. Its opponents are outscoring Lindenwood, 25-9. In net, Nicole Hensley has appeared in all six games, recording a 4.15 goals against average and .899 save percentage.

RIT is 4-1-3 all-time against the Lady Lions and finished the regular season series last year with a 3-0-1 mark.  The Tigers are 3-0-1 against Lindenwood all-time on home ice. The two teams will also meet during the 2014-15 season on Jan. 30-31 at Lindenwood.

Tickets for both games are $5 for adults, $4 for RIT staff, faculty, and alumni, and $3 for youth. RIT students receive free admission (one ticket limit per valid RIT ID). Tickets are available at the Gene Polisseni Center and Gordon Field House Box Offices, by calling (585) 475-4121 or by visiting www.rithockey.com.
