Four different players score, as women's hockey rolls to 4-1 win over Brown

PROVIDENCE, RI – The RIT women's hockey team (4-2-1) extended its winning streak to two games, scoring a season-high four goals in a 4-1 road win over Brown (0-1-0) at Meehan Auditorium on Friday night.

Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas), Darcy Henderson (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas), Mackenzie Stone (Kars, Ontario/South Carleton), and Lindsay Grigg (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Hornets) scored for the Tigers.McCrea and Stone added assists, giving them both a two-point night.

In goal, Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) made 23 saves to earn her fourth win of the season and 41st of her career, moving into sole possession of third place all-time at RIT. Binnington has an 11-2 mark and an incredible 0.76 goals against average and .973 save percentage, having allowed just 11 goals and stopping 379 shots over her last 13 starts dating back to last season.

RIT out-shot Brown, 30-24. RIT was scoreless in four attempts with the man-advantage, while Brown was 1-for-4.

Erin Conway scored Brown's lone goal with 6:06 remaining, spoiling Binnington's bid for her third shutout of the season, on a two-man advantage. In goal, Brown goaltender Monica Elvin took the loss, stopping 26 saves.

McCrea and Henderson gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead after one period of play. McCrea tallied 3:35 in, while Henderson scored the eventual game-winner 12 minutes later. The Tigers padded to their lead in the second, when Stone made it 3-0. All six of her career goals have come in wins. Grigg gave RIT a 4-0 lead early in the third period.

Defensively, RIT is second nationally, allowing just seven goals in seven games, or 1.00 per contest.

The win was No. 175 for McDonald at RIT. He is now 175-55-19 in his ninth season at the university.

RIT is now 7-6-1 all-time against Brown, including a 4-1-0 mark at the Division I level.

The two teams conclude their weekend series on Saturday in Providence, at 4 p.m.
