PROVIDENCE, RI – The RIT women's hockey team (5-2-1) extended its winning streak to three games and for the second straight day, scored a season-high in goals, defeating Brown University (0-2-0) by a score of 5-2 from Meehan Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Senior
Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) continued her recent hot streak by scoring a pair of goals. She now has four goals over the last three games, all RIT wins. In addition, she moved past RIT's all-time leading point scorer, Sarah Dagg '11 for fourth at the university with 64 career goals.
Freshmen
Lauren Carroll (Carlisle, Ontario/Oakville Hornets) and
Victoria Pitawanakwat (Manitowaning, Ontario/Sudbury Wolves) scored their first collegiate goals, while sophomore
Caitlin Wallace (Brantford, Ontario/Assumption Collegiate) tallied her first goal of the season.
Mackenzie Stone (Kars, Ontario/South Carleton) dished out a pair of assists, while
Lindsay Stenason (Oakville, Ontario/Appleby Collegiate) was a game-high plus-3.
In goal,
Brooke Stoddart (Elmvale, Ontario/Elmvale) made her second start of the season, stopping 13 shots to pick up the win.
Kaitlyn Keon tallied a goal and an assist, while Sam Donovan also scored for the Bears. In goal, Julianne Landry made the start, stopping 17 of 22 shots over the first 37 minutes before being pulled in favor of Monica Elvin, who stopped all nine shots she faced.
RIT out-shot Brown, 31-15. The Tigers, who entered the game just 2 for their first 38 on the power-play, broke out by scoring twice in just three chances with the man-advantage. Brown was 2-for-8 with the power-play.
"I thought it was a very solid team effort during the entire weekend," said RIT head coach
Scott McDonald. "We've been improving as a team every game and we're excited to begin CHA play next weekend."
RIT led 2-1 after one period on goals from McCrea and Carroll. The Tigers upped their lead to 5-1 after two periods, as Wallace, McCrea, and Pitawanakwat lit the lamp in the middle stanza.
RIT is now 7-6-1 all-time against Brown, including a 4-1-0 mark at the Division I level.
The Tigers continued their stout defensive play to begin the season, as they have allowed just nine goals over the first eight games, second best in Division I. RIT has allowed two goals or less in 17 straight games dating back to last season.
RIT opens up College Hockey America play next weekend by hosting Lindenwood for a pair of contests from the Gene Polisseni Center. On Friday, the two teams meet at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, action begins at 3 p.m.
