RIT men's soccer loses at to Skidmore

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (4-10-1, 2-4-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Skidmore College (8-4-3, 2-1-1 Liberty League) on a dreary afternoon at Tiger Stadium Saturday. The Tigers have now dropped three straight versus Skidmore.

Shots were 13-11 in favor of RIT, who fired eight corner kicks to five for Skidmore. Mark Reeves (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) took the loss in net for RIT making three saves. Eli Kisselbach picked up the win for Skidmore making eight saves.

It did not take Skidmore long to get on the board, taking an early lead on a goal in the second minute from Brock Bakewell. Nick Masiero sent in a service from the left flank that Bakewell ran onto and one-timed a shot past a diving Reeves for an early Thoroughbreds lead.

RIT had two great chances with a little over nine minutes to play in the first half. Geno Rocco (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) fired a shot that Kisselbach was able to save. The rebound came to Jonny Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) who fired a shot that Kisselbach was able to get a finger on and tip wide of the net.

Skidmore made it 2-0 in the 61st minute on a goal by Augustine Okoye. He dribble free of a RIT defender and fired a shot from 15 yards out that beat Reeves to the far left corner.

RIT had a chance with 11:30 to play in regulation when Jurt Spiegel rifled a shot from 16 yards out. Once again, Kisselbach came up big, making the diving save to preserve the clean sheet for Skidmore.

The Tigers returns to action on Saturday, October 25 when the Tigers face Union College at 2 p.m. in Schenectady, N.Y.
