TROY, NY – The RIT (5-3-5, 1-2-2 Liberty League) women's soccer team fell 3-0 to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (9-4-1, 4-1-0 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from ECAV Stadium Friday afternoon. Senior Taylor Korytko scored twice for the Engineers.
Shots were 14-8 in favor of Rensselaer, who fired four corner kicks to just one for the Tigers.
Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) took the loss in net for RIT making four saves. Tori Riopelle got the win for the Engineers making six saves.
Following a scoreless first half, Kortyko put the home team in front just 2:41 into the second half. She collected a rolling cross from Dali Alarian and scored from the far post.
Tietzen gave the Engineers a 2-0 lead when she put a rebound of a Stephanie May shot across the goal line in the 70th minute. It was the first goal of the year for Tietzen.
Kortyko made it 3-0 on her second tally of the game and sixth of the season when her shot from 40 yards out dropped under the crossbar but over Murray in the 75
th minute.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, October 18 when the Tigers face Skidmore College at 2 p.m. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
