ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (9-5, 3-2 Liberty League) men's basketball team held off Rensselaer (9-5, 3-2 Liberty League) 109-103 Friday evening in Liberty League action from Clark Gym.

Kamron Davis (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham)# was one of five players to score in double figures for the Tigers, tallying 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor. #
Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers)# added 20 points, while #
Brendan Reinert (Wheatfield, NY/Starpoint) scored 16 points. (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker)Gabe Nicasio (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) chipped in 12 points and (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker)JP Reagan (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# scored 14 for the Tigers who shot 54.8 percent from the floor on 40-of-73 shooting. RIT made 12-of-26 three pointers and were 17-of-25 from the foul line.
Leading 50-43 at halftime, RIT led by as many as 21 points in the second half, before a late run by the Engineers cut the score to six points. Rensselaer outscored the Tigers 22-8 over the final 4:06 to get within six points.
The Engineers shot 40 percent from the floor on 30-of-75 shooting. RPI went 9-of-30 from behind the arc and were 34-of-45 from the foul line. Tyler Gendron and Chase Almond led the Engineers with 17 points apiece. Reggie Colas scored 16 and Nick Keefe tallied 13 for the Engineers.
The two teams combined for 55 fouls. The 109 points were the most for RIT in a Liberty League game and most since putting up 110 in an overtime win over Utica nearly four years ago to the day.
Rensselaer will face Hobart College tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y. RIT will host Skidmore College at 4 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym.
