PITTSFORD, NY – Senior midfielder
John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) put on a show, scoring two goals and adding an assist as the RIT men's soccer team (1-1-0) defeated SUNY Canton (0-2-0) 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in day two of the 10th annual Doug May Memorial Soccer Classic at Nazareth College.
Senior forward
Coty Winchell (Belfast, NY/Belfast) scored RIT's first goal just over 10 minutes into the first half when he chased after a beautifully fed ball from Kaddo from the left flank and tipped it off his toe past SUNY Canton goalkeeper Tyler Savage.
Four minutes later Kaddo trapped a ball and darted through the Kangaroos defense on his own to net his first of two goals on the day.
Nearly 21 minutes into the game, RIT would score goal number three when senior co-captain
Jimmy Forbes (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) tipped home a corner from Winchell for his first tally of the season.
The Tigers stayed aggressive on offense as Kaddo scored his second goal of the day off an assist from
Dave Boselli (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley), giving RIT a commanding 4-0 lead.
RIT outshot SUNY Canton 12-6 at the half, controlling the pace of the game by keeping the ball on SUNY Canton's side of the field for the majority of the half.
SUNY Canton's best scoring opportunity came in the eighth minute after RIT was whistled for a handball. Nick Escalante, who had three shots on the day, rang his free kick off the left post.
Reeves picked up his first win of the season making three saves on eight shots. RIT held an 18-8 shot advantage.
In two matches versus SUNY Canton, RIT is 2-0-0 and have outscored the Kangaroos 5-0 in those two matches.
RIT hits the road to take on Elizabethtown College in the Blue Jay Classic on Saturday, September 7 in the Blue Jay Classic in Elizabethtown, Pa.
