GENEVA, NY – The RIT (7-4, 2-2 Liberty League) dropped their second straight conference game on Saturday with a 16-8 loss at William Smith. The Tigers fall to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the Liberty League.

William Smith held a 31-24 shot advantage. The Tigers had 15 ground balls and 11 draw controls, to 20 ground balls and 15 draw controls for the Herons who improve to 5-4 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League.
RIT trailed 8-5 at the half. Mandell and Sarkis each scored twice for the Tigers in the first half, while Caruso added the fifth RIT goal. William Smith scored the final three goals of the half to take a three-goal cushion into intermission.
RIT fired 16 shots in the first half, to 17 for the Herons. The Tigers won 8 draw controls to six for William Smith, who led the ground ball battle, 13-9.
Vakiener opened the second-half scoring with her 41st goal of the season that cut William Smith's lead to 8-6 at the 8:07 mark of the second half.
That would be as close as RIT would get, as the Herons answered with a five-goal run, taking a 13-6 lead on Katie Sipple's 14th goal of the season at the 20:31 mark of the second half.
RIT's offense went cold in the second half, going scoreless from the 8:07 mark of the half to the 24:12 mark, a span of a little over 16 minutes. #
Erin York (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeyoye Falls-Lima)# broke the drought with her second goal of the season that cut the Heron's lead to 13-7.
William Smith tacked on three more goals, before Caruso tallied her second of the game for RIT, making it 16-8 William Smith.
Hannah Connolly and Katie Sipple led the Herons with seven points apiece. Connolly had five goals and two assists, while Sipple scored twice and dished out five assists. Marina Guigli picked up the win in net for the Herons, allowing eight goals and making eight saves.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, April 10 when the Tigers face The University of Rochester at 4 pm.
