RIT women's lacrosse scores season-low seven goals in 16-7 loss at Union



SCHENECTADY, NY – The RIT (7-3, 2-1 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team came into Friday the highest scoring team in the Liberty League, averaging 15.78 goals per game. The Tigers were held to a season-low seven goals in a 16-7 loss at Union College in Liberty League action Friday afternoon.

RIT trailed 13-4 at the half. The 13 goals scored by Union in the first half, was the most goals allowed in a half by the Tigers this season. Union scored the final five goals of the half to take a nine-goal lead into the break.

RIT was held scoreless over a 34:53 that stretched from 15:59 of the first half into the second half. #Sage Sarkis (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima)#, who led the Tigers with four goals, broke the scoring drought with her third of the game at 20:52 of the second half.

#Holly Leone (Centerport, NY/Harborfields)#, #Marlee Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa)#, and Corinna Mandell also scored for the Tigers. #Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# took the loss in net, making six saves.

RIT fired 19 shots to 29 for Union. The Tigers grabbed 21 ground balls, and won 11 draw controls, to 14 for the Dutchwomen.

Emily McGrail led Union with seven points on six goals and an assist. Kim Grinhaus picked up the win in net for the Dutchwomen, allowing seven goals and making eight saves.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, April 6 at William Smith College. First draw in Geneva, New York is at 2 pm.
