No. 5 RIT men's lacrosse battled the elements to earn a 13-6 road win at No. 17 Ithaca

ROCHESTER, NY -- On a foggy, rainy afternoon, the No. 5 RIT men's lacrosse team (10-2) defeated No. 17 Ithaca College (7-4), 13-6. The Tigers scored eight straight first-half goals to build the lead, beating the Bombers for the fifth straight time. Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) and Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute) each had four goals each to pace the Tigers.

RIT held a 44-35 shot advantage, won the ground ball battle 42-28, and were 10-of-23 on face-offs. The Tigers man-up, which came into Wednesday second in all of Division III in man-up efficiency, went 4-for-6 versus the Bombers, increasing their conversion percentage to 50.9 percent on the season.

Aquin and Warren each finished with five points on four goals and an assist, while Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) added four points on two goals and two assists. Taylor Wisman (Seattle, WA/Inglemoor) dished out three assists. Pay Johnston picked up his 10th win of the season, making 11 saves.

Ithaca scored the first goal of the game, but RIT rebounded with eight straight tallies, to lead 8-2 at the half. Aquin scored three of RIT's eight goals, including a man-up goal. Warren, Krzyston, #Eddie Kiesa, Matt Hossack (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry), and Luke Wolfe (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) each scored for the Tigers. For Hossack, it was his first collegiate goal. Johnston made six stops in net for RIT in the first half.

Aquin and Warren each struck for RIT to open the second half scoring, before a three-goal run by Ithaca cut the Tigers lead to 10-5. Andrew Bruce, who had two goals for Ithaca, capped off the run off an assist from Ryan Burns with 43 seconds to play in the third quarter to cut RIT's lead to five goals.

Warren scored consecutive goals to open the fourth quarter scoring, increasing RIT's lead to 12-5 on his twenty-fifth goal of the season at the 11:27 mark.

Jake Long scored off an assist from Burns with 7:10 to play to cut RIT's lead to 12-6. The six goals scored by Ithaca ties a season low for the Bombers this season.

The fog rolled, in causing a stoppage in play with 5:24 to play in the fourth quarter. The delay lasted about five minutes, leading to Krzyston's second goal of the game with 3:23 to play to make it a 13-6 final.

Manilla and Andrew Bruce led Ithaca with two goals apiece. Pay Slawta and Jake Long each had a goal for the Bombers who fall to 7-4 on the season. Scott Sidnam took the loss in net for the Bombers, making 13 saves.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, April 13 when the Tigers host Vassar College at 12 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
