ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team wraps up the 2012-13 regular season this weekend by making the quick trip on I-90 to face College Hockey America foe Mercyhurst University, ranked ninth in the latest Division I USCHO.com poll. Friday's contest begins at 3 p.m., while Saturday's game gets underway at 2 p.m.

RIT (14-13-5, 7-6-5 CHA) earned a weekend sweep over Penn State, defeating the Nittany Lions by scores of 3-1 on Friday and 4-0 on Saturday. On Friday, #Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# scored a pair of goals, while #Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons) also scored. (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects)# dished out three assists, while #Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects) recorded a pair of helpers. (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# stopped 21 shots. The next night, RIT honored its senior class and then went out and recorded its seventh shutout of the year. Chamberlain made 20 saves to pick up her second shutout of the year and 12th of her illustrious RIT career. Kunchika scored a goal and added an assist, while the line of #Erin Zach (Elmira, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)#, #Marissa Maugeri (Ajax, Ontario/Durham West Lightning)#, and #Jess Paton (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)# combined for six points.

Chamberlain was named the CHA Goaltender of the Week for the first time this season on Monday. On Friday, Yokoyama became the 12th player in the history of the program to reach 100 career points. She has 13 goals and 87 assists in 116 games. Her 87 assists are second most in program history. Yokoyama is the fourth active player to reach 100 career points this season (Schlattman, Kunichika, and #Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)#).

RIT has wrapped up home ice for the first round of the CHA Tournament and at least a share of third place. If RIT records one point this weekend, or Lindenwood fails to sweep Syracuse, the Tigers clinch the No. 3 seed and would host No. 6 Penn State in a best of three series at Ritter Arena from March 1-3.

Mercyhurst (24-6-1, 15-3-0 CHA) has clinched the CHA regular season title for the 11th straight season. The Lakers enter this weekend's contests riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping Syracuse on the road last weekend by scores of 5-3 and 3-2. Christine Bestland leads the team in scoring with 63 points on 24 goals and 39 assists, while freshman Emily Janiga has 39 points on 18 goals and 21 assists. Five different Lakers have at least 30 points. The Lakers have outscored their opponents 133-53 this season. In net, Stephanie Ciampa and Amanda Makela have split time. Ciampa is 15-1-0 with a 1.39 goals against average and .935 save percentage, while Makela is 9-5-1 with a 2.01 goals against average and .911 save percentage. The Lakers have recorded eight shutouts this season.

The two teams met way back on Sept. 28-29, with Mercyhurst welcoming RIT into the Division I era with 6-2 and 7-0 wins at Ritter Arena. Bestland tallied seven points on three goals and four assists that weekend, while Janiga had a hat-trick in the 7-0 win.

Both games will be streamed online, while live stats will be available here.
