Courtney Tennant named Liberty League Player of the Week

ROCHESTER, NY -- Junior center #Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)#  was named Liberty League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 3, 2013.

Tennant helped RIT to a 3-0 week last week with wins over William Smith, St. Lawrence and Clarkson.

Tennant averaged 20.3 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in three games last week. She shot 52.4 percent from the floor, 89.5 percent from the foul line, blocked eight shots and had three steals.

On Tuesday, Tennant scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 69-59 win over William Smith. She was 8-of-12 from the floor, 4-of-4 from the foul line and had two blocks. The win over William Smith was the first for RIT in program history. Prior to Tuesday, the Tigers were 0-24 versus the Herons.

On Friday, the junior center scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 73-65 win over St. Lawrence. She was 11-of-21 from the field, 7-of-9 from the foul line, had three blocks and two steals for the Tigers.

Tennant wrapped up her week with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-59 win over Clarkson. She was just 3-of-9 from the field, but went 6-for-6 from the foul line and blocked three shots.

RIT finished the season 12-13 overall, and were one of the hottest teams in the Liberty League down the stretch, winning 8 of their last 10 games, including three straight to finish the season.

Tennant led the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.3 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. She finished the season with 859 career points which is tenth all-time in program history,
