ONEONTA, NY - The RIT wrestling team finished up its dual-match schedule for the season on Saturday, falling to Oneonta State by a score of 34-12.  The win for Oneonta gives them an 8-11 record for the year in dual matches while RIT drops to 2-13.
 
#Mike Nguyen (Syracuse, NY/Jordan-Elbridge)# was awarded a win by forfeit in the opening match at 125 lbs. to give RIT a 6-0 lead, Oneonta came back to win the next two weights, as Ben Mikac recorded a 10-4 decision over #Rory Bruce (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) before Sean Hanson pinned (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes)Lucas Howland (Albany, NY/Schoharie)# to give the Red Dragons a 9-6 lead.
 
#Brad Mayville (Marion, NY/Wayne)# gave RIT its final lead of the day, 12-9, as he pinned Kyle Wierzbicki of Oneonta for his 28th win of the season at 149 lbs. The scoring for RIT would end at that point, as Oneonta assumed control of the match by winning the final six weight classes. #Sean Sercu (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney)# dropped a tough 2-0 decision against Dan Graff, while #Nick Fisk (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield)# just missed earning a win for the Tigers at 174 lbs., falling to Anthony Paratore, 8-7.

Up next for RIT is the Si Ostrach Meet hosted by Case Western Reserve on Saturday. RIT will wrestle Thiel at 11 a.m., Case Western at 12:30 p.m. and Muskingum at 2 p.m.
 
RIT will send 10 athletes who will compete in two weeks at the NCAA Regional championships at Ohio Northern University.  This will be the qualifying tournament for the Tigers, as the NCAA has adopted a new regional format to determine qualifiers for the Division III championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Mar. 15-16.  The top three finishers in each weight class will automatically qualify for the championships.  There will no longer be any wild card selections.
