Women's basketball closes out season with win over Clarkson on Senior Day



ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (12-13, 8-8 Liberty League) women's basketball closed out the regular season in style, defeating Clarkson University 69-59 on Senior Day at Clark Gym. With the win, RIT finished the season winningh 8 of their final 10 games.

Senior #Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)# finished her career with style, scoring 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing out four assists and snagging six steals.

Prior to the game, RIT Head Coach Amy Reed and the Tigers presented seniors #Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# and Havens with plaques and gifts to commemorate their final game on the floor of Clark Gym.

#Jess Kramer (Fayetteville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) scored 18 points and had four rebounds. It was her second straight game with 18 points. (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove)Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# added 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Trailing 41-30 at halftime, RIT outscored the Golden Knights 41-30 in the second half to clinch their twlfth win of the season. RIT took a 10-point lead on a pair of Tennant free throws, capping off a 13-2 run by the Tigers.

RIT shot 37.1 percent from the floor on 26-of-70 shooting. The Tigers were just 2-of-13 from three point land, and 15-of-18 from the foul line. The Tigers held a 47-39 rebounding edge and scored 26 points off of 19 Clarkson turnovers.

Ashley Loggins led Clarkson with 23 points and seven rebounds. Leighann Tomita scored 13 points, while Colleen Daley added 11 points.

Clarkson shot 36.2 percent from the floor on 21-of-58 shooting. The Golden knights were 4-of-19 from three point land and were 130of-18 from the foul line.
