ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (8-15, 4-10 Liberty League) men's basketball team was defeated by Hobart College (17-6, 13-1 Liberty League) 72-57 in Liberty League action from Clark Gym on Tuesday night. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Tigers.

Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers) led RIT with 13 points. (Eldred, NY/Eldred)Dave Lynch (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy)# came off the bench to score eight points for the Tigers who fall to 4-10 in conference play.
Richie Bonney was one of four Statesmen to score in double figures, tallying 16 points, while grabbing eight rebounds. Connor Rehbaum added 15, while Sean Peer and Cole Smothers each scored 10 for Hobart who remain atop the Liberty league standings with a 13-1 conference mark.
RIT led briefly in the first half, but a 14-5 run by the Statesmen over a 5:02 span built Hobart's lead to 10 points.

Nick Dobson (Corning, NY/Corning West)# at the 1:41 mark of the first half pulled RIT to within three points, but Hobart scored the final four points of the half to lead 36-29 at the break.

Eric Travis (Chicago,IL/Hinsdale South)# early in the second half cut Hobart's lead to six points, the closest RIT would get in the second half. The Statesmen would lead by as many as 23 points later in the second half.
RIT shot 50 percent for the game on 23-of-46 shooting. The Tigers went 5-of-16 from beyond the arc and went 6-of-10 from the foul line. Hobart shot 52.8 percent from the floor on 28-of-53 shooting. The Statesmen went 6-of-15 from three point land and were 10-of-14 from the foul line.
RIT returns top action on Friday, February 15 at 8 p.m. when the Tigers host St. Lawrence on the floor of Clark Gym. The Tigers will honor Head Coach
Bob McVean before the game on winning his 500th career game. The Tigers will also honor Wounded Warriors as well in a benefit to aid Veterans Outreach of Rochester.
