Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the RIT (2-1) women's basketball team to a 78-65 win at Houghton College (0-3) on Tuesday evening. #
Ashlynn Palmitesso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) and
Kayla Wheeler (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa)# each had 15 points for the Tigers.
RIT shot 40.3 percent from the floor on 29-of-72 shooting from the floor. The Tigers went 1-for-11 from 3-point range, and were 19-of-25 from the foul line. RIT held a 45-41 rebounding edge and had nine steals.
Tennant went 9-of-19 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the foul line. She also grabbed 12 boards, dished out two assists, and had two steals.
Palmitesso went 6-of-14 from the field, while Wheeler shot 4-of-6 from the floor. Senior forward #
Mallory Apperson (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove)# scored eight points and had four rebounds.
RIT opened up the game scoring the first six points, leading by as many as 14 points in the first half. Tennant led RIT with 24 first half points. Palmitesso added seven as RIT led 39-29 at the half.
The Tigers opened the second half with a 17-8 run, building a 21-point lead on a jumper by freshman #

Wheeler scored 11 second-half points to pace the Tigers on 4-of-6 shooting. She went 3-for-3 from the foul line and grabbed three rebounds. Palmitesso scored eight, while Apperson tallied six in the second half. Sophomore point guard #

Kristen Morse led Houghton with 21 points and eight rebounds. Stephany Ellison tallied 20 points for the Highlanders who fall to 0-3 on the seaosn.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 when the Tigers host Buffalo State at 6 p.m. on the floor at Clark Gym.
