ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT wrestling team looked strong in its first home dual meet of the season against SUNY Oswego, winning six of 10 matches with the Lakers en route to a 18-13 win on Saturday afternoon at Clark Gym.

Brad Mayville (Marion, NY/Wayne)# faced perhaps the toughest opponent of the day at 149 lbs. where he faced off with
Abubakarr Sow of the Lakers. It was an even match throughout with Sow and Mayville both jockeying for a control. With Sow up 4-2 heading into the third period, Mayville stayed tough, reversing Sow to tie it and got a take down in the final 10 seconds to seal a 6-4 match win.
In the 157 lb. weight class, Ethan Testa (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) handled Dustin Jones easily in 7-2 win, ballooning the Tigers lead to 12-4. Next up was #
Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne)# at 165 lbs. who went up against
David Hall of Oswego. Cain was in control from start to finishing defeating Hall by a 9-4 mark. It was
Nick FIsk (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield) earned the final win of the day for RIT in the 174 weight class, with a hard fought 4-3 match against
Sean Maloney. That would give RIT the 18-4 lead.
Despite Oswego sweeping the final three matches of the day it wasn't nearly enough to earn a win as the Tigers held onto a 18-13 victory at home.

Rory Bruce (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) at 133 lbs. and (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy)Won Kim (Millbrae, CA/Mills)# at 141 lbs.
RIT will head to the New York State "A" Championships next weekend on Sunday Nov. 24, in Ithaca New York, with action starting bright and early at 9 a.m.
