Women's hockey hosts Vermont in pair of games to celebrate Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend

ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team begins its final season at historic Ritter Arena with a pair of games against the University of Vermont to celebrate Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend. On Friday, the Tigers and Catamounts play at 7 p.m. Saturday's contest between the two schools gets underway at 3 p.m.
 
Last weekend, RIT picked up their first win of the 2013-14 season, defeating New Hampshire, 3-2 on Friday, and lost to No. 10 Northeastern, 5-4 on Saturday. On Friday, #Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects)#, #Cassie Clayton (Pickering, Ontario/PEAC School)#, and #Jess Paton (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)# scored, while #Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs)# made 30 saves. On Saturday, RIT trailed 3-1 before taking a 4-3 third period lead. Northeastern responded with the final two goals to hand RIT the loss. Paton, Kunichika, #Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas)#, and #Celeste Brown (Great Falls, MT/National Sports Academy)# tallied, while Binnington made 32 saves in defeat. RIT tied a Division I team record with three power-play goals in the loss on Saturday. Paton and Erin Zach (Elmira, Ontario/Cambridge Fury) each have a point in all three games for the Tigers in 2013-14. Paton, Zach, and #Emilee Bulleid (Waterdown, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres)# lead the team in scoring with three points each.
 
Vermont opened the 2013-14 season by going 0-1-1 at home agianst Penn State last weekend. On Friday, the Catamounts and Nittany Lions skated to a 3-3 tie, while Penn State won Saturday's contest, 4-2. Brittany Zuback, Amanda Pelkey, and Victoria Andreakos each have a goal and two assists for three points. In goal, Roxanne Douville has a 3.43 goals against average and .837 save percentage in two games this season. Vermont went 8-21-4 last season. Zuback led the team in scoring with 14 goals and 26 points in 2012-13.
 
RIT is 6-0-3 all-time against the Catamounts, having last played them on Jan. 28, 2001, a 1-1 tie at Ritter Arena.
 
Tickets for this weekend's games are available at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center Box Office or by phone at (585) 475-4121. Fans can also purchase tickets at www.rithockey.com. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $4 for faculty/staff/alumni and $3 for students and youth. RIT student admission is free with valid ID (ticket must be picked up at the box office, one per ID).

This is the final season that RIT will play at historic Ritter Arena. In 2014-15, RIT will move into the Gene Polisseni Center, which is expected to seat 4,500 fans. Come out, support the Tigers, and "Rock the Ritter".
