No. 25 RIT women's soccer runs unbeaten streak to eight games with 2-2 tie at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The No. 25 RIT women's soccer team (7-1-3, 2-0-1 Liberty League) ran its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 2-2 tie at Vassar College (4-5-2, 0-2-1 Liberty League) in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon. Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) scored for the Tigers, who are 5-0-3 in their last eight games. The two goals allowed by RIT on Saturday were the most allowed by the Tigers in a game this season.

Shots were 20-9 in favor of Vassar. The Brewers took six corner kicks to two for the Tigers. Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) got the start in net for RIT, picking up the tie, making six saves. Emma Nichols got the tie for Vassar, making three saves.

Kiss gave RIT a 1-0 lead on her fifth goal of the season in the 54th minute. She intercepted a poor pass between a Brewers defender and Nichols and scored with a shot in the bottom-left corner for a 1-0 RIT lead.

Chloe Wheeler equalized for Vassar on her sixth goal of the season in the 59th minute off an assist from Becca Olson. Wheeler scored with a shot from 15 yards out that beat Murray to the back right corner.

RIT took the lead back in the 60th minute on an own-goal by Vassar. RIT's service into the Brewer's penalty area deflected off Becki Pearce-Probst and into the net, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Emily Krebs got the equalizer in the 79th minute off an assist from Lucy Brainard.

Both teams had chances in the overtime as RIT fired four shots in the extra session, while Vassar fired three. But, both defenses held strong to earn the tie.

RIT is off until Saturday, October 12 when the Tigers face No. 20 St. Lawrence University at 1 p.m. at Tiger Stadium as part of Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.
