No. 24 RIT women's soccer records school record 10th shutout with 2-0 win over Fredonia State

Kiss scores goal in eighth straight game

ROCHESTER, NY -- The No. 24 RIT women's soccer team (11-2-3) shut out Fredonia State (4-11-2) 2-0 in non-conference action from a chilly Tiger Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. #Maxine Culhane (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) and Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit)# each scored for the Tigers who win for the eleventh time on the year. Kiss has now scored at least one goal in eight straight games for the Tigers. RIT sets a team record with its 10th shut out win of the season.

RIT dominated from the opening whistle, out-shooting the Blue Devils 18-4. The Tigers took four corner kicks to none for Fredonia State who fall to 4-12-2 on the season.

Junior #Amanda Murray (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls)# picked up her tenth win of the season in net for RIT, making one save. Freshman Hannah McGlinchey took the loss for the Blue Devils making eight saves.

RIT took a 1-0 lead on Culhane's second goal of the season in the 19th minute. #Elena Wolfe (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany)# started the play with a shot that deflected off a Fredonia State defender and came to Culhane who fired a shot into the right corner past a diving McGlinchey.

Fredonia's first shot of the game came with 2:35 to play in the first half when Nicole Pannullo sent a shot just wide of the RIT post.

After halftime, the Blue Devils put some pressure on Murray and RIT's defense when Kristi Putzig got free and fired a shot that Murray was able to save.

#Ehlana Gray (Sewickley, PA/Avonworth) sent a long service into the Fredonia penalty area that (Sammamish, WA/Eastlake)Kiana Richards (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake)# ran onto and volleyed just over the crossbar for the Tigers.

Late in the half, Fredonia's Shannon Letina sent a long shot off a free kick that Murray saw the whole way and made the stop keeping RIT's one goal lead intact.

That set up Kiss who put the game away with her goal in the 90th minute. Richards sent a service that found Kiss 25 yards from the goal. She dribbled and got free, firing a shot from the top of the Blue Devils box that sailed into the top left corner for her team-best 11th goal of the season. Her 11 goals this season ties her for fifth all time with #Carol Rivers and Emily Traversi# for most goals in a season by a Tiger.

In 1985, RIT had nine team shut outs.

RIT wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 2 when the Tigers host Liberty League rival and third-ranked William Smith at 1 p.m. on the field at Tiger Stadium.
