Celeste Brown (Great Falls, MT/National Sports Academy)# scored two goals to help the RIT women's hockey team (4-4-0) to a 2-1 win over Brown University (0-1-0) in non-conference action from Ritter Arena on Friday evening.

Kaitlyn Keon score Brown's goal, while Janice Yang added an assist. Aubree Moore took the loss in net for the Bears, making 32 saves.

Jess Paton (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)# had RIT's first real good scoring chance at the 11:55 mark of the first period when she intercepted a clearing pass by the Bears in their own zone and broke in 1-on-1 with Moore. She tried to go top-shelf, but Moore stood her ground and made the save.
Brittany Moorehead had a good chance for Brown with a little over five minutes to play in the opening period. She skated around the RIT net and fired a shot that Binnington was able to save, keeping the game scoreless.
RIT broke through at 17:10 of the first period on Brown's third goal of the season. With RIT on the power play, Bulleid was strong along the dasher boards, sending the puck behind the Brown net to Zach who threw the puck in front and Brown one-timed a shot home for a 1-0 Tigers lead.
The Bears tied the game at 1-1 just 41 seconds into the second period when Kaitlyn Keon poked home a loose puck in a scrum in front of the RIT net. Yang had the lone assist on the play.
RIT, who fired 17 shots in the second period, put good pressure on Brown. With RIT on the power play midway through the period, #
Morgan Scoyne (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres) and
Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects)# each had shots on net that Moore was able to turn aside. Kunichika's shot was from close range off a rebound, but Moore stood her ground on the post and made the big save.
Brown gave RIT the lead just 23 seconds into the third period, off assists from Stenason and Stone. She was parked in front of the Bears net and poked home the puck for her second goal of the game and fourth of the season, giving RIT the 2-1 lead.
The Bears had a good chance late in the third period when Moorehead intercepted a clearing pass by the Tigers and broke in on Binnington. Moorehead fired a wrist shot that Binnington got a toe on and turned aside.
Shots were 34-19 in favor of RIT. The Tigers went 2-for-4 with the man advantage, while Brown was 0-for-2 on the power play.
RIT is now 4-0-0 on Fridays and 0-4-0 on Saturdays this season. RIT is 6-5-2 all-time against Brown, and 3-0-0 against the Bears at the Division I level.
The two teams play conclude their season series tomorrow, October 26 at 3 p.m. at Ritter Arena.
