SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The RIT (5-6-2, 2-3-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought game at Skidmore College (9-4-2, 3-1-1 Liberty League), losing to the Thoroughbreds 1-0 on Friday afternoon in Liberty League action at Wachenheim Field.
Shots were 12-11 in favor of Skidmore. Corner Kicks were 3-2 in favor of the Thoroughbreds.
Mark Reeves (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) took the loss in net for RIT, making four saves. Eli Kisselbach picked up the in net for Skidmore, making seven saves.
RIT tested Skidmore Kisselbach in the opening minutes but he was up to the challenge, turning away a chance by
Luke Dorsey (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) from close range, and denying
Geno Rocco (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) on the rebound shot.
The Thoroughbreds fought off the early pressure by RIT. Adam Beek put Skidmore in front in the 22nd minute, unleashing a strike from 35 yards out just under the crossbar for his fourth goal of the season.
Kisselbach preserved the shutout late in the first half, stopping a blast from
Michael Vincelli (Hilton, NY/Hilton) shot from eight yards off an RIT restart.
RIT faces Rensselaer Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. in Troy, N.Y.
