RIT Athletics mourns the loss of former Wrestling All-American Tim Tyler

ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT Athletics mourns the loss of Tim Tyler '99, who lost his three-year battle with a rare form of cancer on January 10 at the age of 37. Tyler was a standout on the mat for the wrestling team at RIT from 1995-99.

In 1995-96, Tyler earned All-American honors, finishing eighth at 126 lbs. at the NCAA Championships hosted by Cortland en route to an 18-win season. The following season, Tyler recorded a career-best 22 wins. In 1997-98, Tyler recorded 14 victories.

A Canastota, New York native, Tyler graduated from RIT with a degree in business management, and became a New York State Trooper. He is survived by his wife Jen and two children, Emma, and Andrew. RIT extends their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Tim.
