ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's hockey team (10-10-3) exploded for a season-high 11 goals, while firing a school record 87 shots on goal, cruising to an 11-0 win over Sacred Heart (9-10-2) at Ritter Arena on Friday evening.
RIT scored four times in the first period, five goals in the second, and two more in the final period. RIT recorded a school record 37 shots in the second period, 32 in the opening stanza, and 18 in the final period.
Junior forward Kourtney Kuncihika tied her career-high with six points on three goals and three assists. #

Alexius Schutt made 38 saves over the first 29:30, allowing six goals. Mandy Montgomery also made 38 saves, allowing five goals over the final 30:30.
RIT was 3-for-5 with the man-advantage, while Sacred Heart finished 0-for-3.

Scott McDonald likes the progress his team is making in its first Division I season.
"I was happy with how fast we played tonight," said McDonald. "The speed and intensity of our game on both ends of the ice has improved rapidly from the start of the season."
RIT out-shot Sacred Heart 32-3 in the first period and jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
Paton tallied her second goal of the season on the power-play at the 7:51 mark, whacking in a rebound in tight after

Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects) was the recipient of a tremendous cross-crease pass from Yokoyama a little less than four minutes later, also on the power-play for her first of the evening and fifth of the year to make it 2-0 Tigers.
At the 14:20 mark, Hiller recorded her first goal of the game to make it 3-0.

RIT is now 10-3-2 all-time against the Pioneers and have a 10-game unbeaten streak against them dating back to Feb. 16, 2002. Tonight's game was the third of four meetings between the two schools this season. On Oct. 5-6, the Tigers picked up their first two wins as a Division I program, rolling to 8-0 and 7-2 victories over the Pioneers.
The two teams meet to conclude its season series on Saturday, once again at Ritter Arena. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Any youth hockey player in eighth grade or below who wears their jersey to either game can go to the Ritter Arena box office to claim a free ticket.
