ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team plays its final non-conference games of the 2012-13 season, as they welcome Sacred Heart University to Ritter Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2:05 p.m. Both contests are part of RIT's Youth Hockey weekend. Any youth hockey player in eighth grade or below who wears their jersey to either game can go to the Ritter Arena box office to claim a free ticket.
RIT (9-10-3, 4-3-3 CHA) continues its five-game home stand this weekend. Last Saturday, the Tigers had their Division I team record four-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 3-2 overtime loss to Colgate at Ritter Arena. RIT jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by #

Carly Payerl (Kitchener, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic)#, but the Raiders rallied for the final three goals, all scored by Brittany Phillips. RIT out-shot Colgate 34-23. #
Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs)# made 20 saves.

Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder) and
Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons) are slated to become RIT's all-time leaders in games played by appearing in their 110th and 111th contests this weekend. (Woodstock, Ontario/Waterloo K-W Rangers)Kaley Ostanek# played in 110 games from 2002-2007.
Beginning next week, the Tigers play their final 10 regular season games against CHA foes, five home and five away. The Tigers are currently third in the CHA standings with 11 points and would host Penn State in a best-of-three series if the season ended this weekend. The top-two finishers in CHA play receive a bye into the semifinals.
Sacred Heart (9-9-2) enters the weekend series on a 5-1-1 roll over its last seven games. Last weekend, the Pioneers split a pair of games, losing to Holy Cross 4-0, then defeating Franklin Pierce, 7-1. Sacred Heart is getting out-scored 69-56 this season and are 1-5-0 against Division I teams. Melissa Robbins leads the team in scoring with 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists. Casey Stathopoulous is right behind with 21 points with 11 goals and 10 assists. In net, Alexius Schutt is 6-6-1 with a 3.22 goals against average and .919 save percentage.
RIT is 9-3-2 all-time against the Pioneers and have a nine-game unbeaten streak against them dating back to Feb. 16, 2002. It will be the third and fourth meetings between the two schools this season. On Oct. 5-6, the Tigers picked up their first two wins as a Division I program, rolling to 8-0 and 7-2 victories over the Pioneers. In the 8-0 win, RIT out-shot Sacred Heart 63-9, as Binnington recorded RIT's first shutout at the Division I level. #
Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# and Hiller scored a pair of goals apiece. The next day, Casidhe Kunchika scored her first two collegiate goals in the victory.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $4 for faculty/staff/alumni and $3 for students and youth. RIT student admission is free with valid ID (ticket must be picked up at the box office, one per ID).
