Men's soccer has three-game win streak snapped with 3-2 loss to Skidmore

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (6-3-0, 1-1-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to Skidmore College (7-1-1, 3-0-0 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Tiger Stadium on Friday afternoon. John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) and Sean Coots (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City) each had a goal for the Tigers.

Kaddo and Coots scored the RIT goals. Coots tying the game with a conversion of a penalty kick in the 57th minute after being taken down inside the Skidmore box by a defender. Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) took the loss for the TIgers allowing three goals and making one save.

Skidmore's Adam Beek scored the game-winner in the 70th minute, converting a penalty kick. Ike Okpoebo had two goals for the Thoroughbreds who improve to 3-0-0 in conference play. Eli Kisselbach picked up the win, making eigth saves.

RIT dominated shots 20-6, and took eight corner kicks to four for the Thoroughbreds.

The Tigers struck first on Kaddo's goal in the 26th minute. He scored off a rebound from a shot by Sean Sullivan (Malvern, PA/Great Valley). Sullivan fired a shot on net that Kisselbach dove to save. The rebound came out to Kaddo who ran onto it with a half-volley into the top right corner giving RIT a 1-0 lead.

Skidmore answered back when Okpoebo tallied the first of his two goals in the 36th minute. Okpoebo and Beek broke into RIT's half with some speed. Beek fed Okpoebo with a pass and Okpoebo fired a shot from 25 yards out that beat Conway, tying the score at 1-1.

Okpoebo gave the Thoroughbreds a 2-1 lead in the 39th minute off an assist from Brock Bakewell. Okpoebo scored off a miscue by the RIT defense in front of the net.

After halftime, RIT controlled play, developing several good scoring chances. Jon Rosebrook (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) had a chance from 15 yards out early in the half that went just wide of the net.

Coots was taken down inside the Skidmore box with 33:28 to play in regulation, earning a PK for the Tigers. He stepped up to the dot and fired a shot into the lower left corner tying the score at 2-2.

Beek scored the game winner when her converted a penalty kick after Brock Bakewell was taken down inside the RIT penalty box with a little over 20 minutes to play in regulation.

With 26 minutes to play, CJ Brunner (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West) had a golden opportunity to equalize for the Tigers when he found himself in front of the Skdimroe goal. His shot from 15 yards out just missed the cross bar.

Skidmore was able to weather the storm from RIT, holding on for the win.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, September 29 when the Tigers host Rensselaer at 2 pm on Tiger Stadium.
