PITTSFORD, NY
-- The RIT (5-2-0) men's soccer team handed No. 19 Nazareth (5-1) its first loss of the season, winning by a final score of 2-0. Andy Fleckenstein (Farmington, NY/Victor) and John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) each scored a goal for the Tigers and goalkeeper Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) made five saves for his second shutout of the season.

The Tigers took the early lead in the 40th minute. Jon Rosebrook (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) fired a shot that was stopped by Nazareth goalkeeper J.P. Horan but Fleckenstein gathered the rebound and scored his first goal of the season, as well as his first career goal. It was only his second game of the season due to injuries.

RIT held a 6-3 advantage in shots in the first half, including five on goal.

The Golden Flyers best chance of the game came with 30 minutes remaining in the contest. Luke Elston broke away from RIT defenders and fired a shot that forced Conway to leap and punch just over the net.

Less than three minutes later, Kaddo, who just re-entered the game as a substitute, gathered a loose ball in front of the net and beat Horan to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Conway made another difficult save on a chance off the foot of Anthony Calarco. Calarco found himself alone on the right flank and fired a shot low that Conway dove to knock away.

Kaddo almost tallied his second score of the afternoon but his shot hit the cross-bar in the 82nd minute.

For the game, RIT took 14 shots to 11 for Nazareth. Horan made four saves for the Golden Flyers. Nazareth had six corners while RIT attempted two.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 22 when they began Liberty League play with a trip to Union. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
